Cannula

I have to have a cannula put in. The doctor or nurse will do this.

They will put a band around my arm. It might feel a bit tight.

This is okay.

They will wipe my arm clean, then put the needle in my arm. I might feel a little sting. This is okay.

The needle will come out but a little plastic tube called a cannula will stay in my arm.

They will put a clear sticker or some tape around the cannula.

They might use this to take some blood or use it to give me some medicine from a bag called a drip.

When it is time to take the cannula out, they will put a band-aid on when they are done.

All finished, Good job!

How am I feeling?
